How do I advance a kingdom not of this world in this secular world? How do I establish the dominion of my king and His kingdom without using the weapons of domination the world is familiar with?

How can I engage citizens of this world to subscribe to the ideals of another kingdom while living faithfully within the laws of the physical one to which they’re bound?

How do I listen and act empathetically without yielding ground on the truths of my King’s Kingdom? How do I engage and wrestle with the issues that govern this world and the real-life consequences of actions and inactions in the lives of everyday people, and do so while upholding the banners of my heavenly kingdom?

How do I authentically live as an image-bearer, an ambassador of God’s heavenly kingdom with humility that attracts rather than separatism that repels?

How do I fight for, not against the souls my King has called me to? How do I contend for the faith with as much fervour and energy as I contend for the soul, knowing that my weapons are not carnal and are independent of my control. I can’t turn them off and turn them on at will.

How do I carry forward the ministry of reconciliation knowing it comes with exposure to issues and people that will tempt my heart towards hardening?

How do I faithfully serve in this army of the Lord with weapons that are designed to heal, not wound? Especially when my service in this army paints a big bright red target on my back with an enemy whose weapons are designed to steal, kill, and destroy.

These questions should guide our interaction with the world – from neighbours to co-workers, from your small savings group to the homeowners association. From the classrooms to the boardrooms. These questions should guide our evangelism.

Sincerely pondering these questions, or any variation of it forces us to our knees, before the King, in whose name we are sent. Not in shame, or cowering in fear of the assignment. But we come before the throne boldly and without fear, to recieve mercy at the throne of grace for EVERY need or for answers to EVERY question.
